What are the lessons that you learned after reading the commencement address of Steve Jobs?


Steve Jobs Commencement Address?, It is totally and completely inspiring and touching. Why?, maybe you should look for yourself. I mean, read or watch Steve Jobs as he expressing his feelings, life and experiences to you.
It is totally of the deck, amazing and Unbelievable. Unbelievable, because as we all knew Steve Jobs life after the movie ends. I though of different scenario his life become.

Going back to the main topic, the lessons I've learn after reading the commencement address of Steve Jobs. I may think of a lot of things. Or normally i can say it changed me a lot. My way of living and of what i am thinking life is. But the very most thing i learn was to find out what thing was you really love to do and you concentrate on doing it. Because that thing will make you a successful one someday. Just like Steve Jobs. And you must never surrender unto achieving your dreams

The connecting the dots was the thing that touch me most, which makes me realize that all the things that happened to me. It maybe pain or joy. All of those had a meaning in my life which may also makes me as what i am right now. It gives me a lot of experiences and knowledge and at the same time gives me a hint of what life is. What are people normally experienced and felt. Like what he said in his speech if i am not mistaken or as i remembered, that was "YOU MUST TRUST EVERYTHING, your LIFE, DESTINY, KARMA, etc. ". Which was true, because all of the things that was happened on the past if i connected it backwards. It all make sense. Like, i think it was all on plan. It makes me think that if i don't do that maybe i am not like this or maybe if i do that i will be like that thing. Which was Steve Jobs said is true, you can only connected the dots backward.

My Purpose In Life


Well, I only have one purpose in life. And that's to achieve my dreams. Yes dreams are just dreams but that's the thing i really aiming and craving for to have in my life. I had a lot of dreams in life, but the dreams i really want to achieve first was to have my own happy family to live forever. Next is to have my own business. A big business that will be known and talk International. And that business will provide the needs and wants of my family and other people who is closed to my heart. Next is to help my roaring country from pain. And then to be a model to the youth and help inspire people because of my work.

 Reflections/Insights on your Personal Traits Test


Last August 14, 2010, we conducted a test to measure our personal traits when it comes to business. If we do possess the personalities which will be useful to us in some cases if we really decided to enter the world of being a businessman. Because on the previous days and because our subject was about technopreneur, we tackled all about “How to handle a business?”, “What are the characteristics must an effective TECHNOPRENEUR have?”
”Self Mastery, Environment Mastery”. Things like this is a pointers on us which will be an arsenal to us on the time we will be have decisions to make when we will enter to this field. And fortunately, I got a result which is not a shame to share. My result was “Somewhat entrepreneurial”. The second rank on the result.

To start with my reflection and insights on the result given to us, there’s just a thing that comes in my mind when I was reading the article your reflections/insights on your personal traits test that our instructor given to us. The thing was, “when was the last time a thought of being a technopreneur?”, or “Did I even think that I will be one on the first place?”. Because honestly, the first dream that I want when I was a kid was being a nurse. Then all of those dreams were obliterated when I entered college and started to have the knowledge of being an information technology student. I began asking myself again. When did I decided to throw my first dream and started to begin a new one. Then I reminisce and think. And says: “maybe change is the only constant here in the world, that when the time you got matured and think of the fact and how to face the reality. You will know that it’s better to fold my dream and wait for a nice card and grab it to be successful.” Just like the great Bill Gates who is also a poker player, a very good player who always thinks of how to use his cards to win in every game he encountered and even use his enemies on his success and play with them like he is a comrade on bringing the NBI down which what Steve Jobs thinks as the ultimate enemy on their era. But we all know that life is also like a game which you will make decisions. If you do this what will be the outcome. Good or bad outcome it will depend on how you handle or play your card. But technology and information here is the real deal why every people can be an entrepreneur or technopreneur. Because everything you want to know. You can get it, as simple as going to the library and finding the right book. Just by sitting and being patient. You can get everything you want because of the information in the internet and the technology computers. Technology and entrepreneurial skills are driving many economies to prosperity. The most famous of them all is, Bill Gates, just what I mentioned earlier who makes Microsoft a household name all over the world. Steve Jobs – the one who Bill Gates used on his success during their time. A well known for his innovations. iPod - most carried gadget by young population. Look at the success of Google - brain child of Sergey Brin and Larry Page.And technology is a term referred to the application of science use to achieve commercial and industrial objectives, electronic or digital products and systems considered as a group while entrepreneur is a person who is engaged in an enterprise, venture, ideas that accepts acceptability of the outcome. Therefore, technopreneur is a person who venture uses technology as a subject for their business ideas. The role of a technopreneur is to identify a market strategy involving technology and locate the resources needed to accomplish an outcome that would allow the business to notice opportunity that may help the venture to grow. This person behind a firm could demonstrate the quality as a leader and choosing the best manager for the firm. Knowing the people working for you is the best way to choose the one that fits for the job. Technology nowadays is fast developing and is used in many ways to it full functionality, that persuade entrepreneurs to engage with technology and the business, because of this fact that technology emerges with the trend of today’s needs, technopreneur does a lot of new strategy for the business grow and discover more opportunities for the developing industry. If one has decided to be a technopreneur and start his venture, this would help to generate employment as the business grows, it would require positions that may take by people and these people may also start their business venture and be a technopreneur themselves.There are a lot of factor to be consider but one of the most important is the idea that makes you to be a technopreneur, of course you won’t be able to start if you don’t have any business idea to start with. Even a simple plan could be a good start in planning your own business, it doesn’t need to be big, just start it small and make it big. On how to make it big depends on you. Just like what I said, it depends on how you hold your cards and played against your enemies. Because even if you had the worst cards on your hand but if you played it well, use it against your enemies because as we all know that everywhere. Even our closest friends can be an enemy or a threat to your success. Even yourself, can be a considered as a threat because if you don’t believe in yourself and think that you can’t do anything then you will stay like that forever. Maybe the keys here is always think a million or even billion times before having decisions in life because you can never have it back if you already done it. There is nothing as rewind in this world wherein you can change the past. So, think well, play you cards well and don’t give a 100% trust to anyone. Aside from trusting anyone. I can also say that a problem that may intrude in my life makes me a better person also. People merely say that problems of life mold every individual. When I encounter problem, it really makes me feel bad especially that I’m far from my family. Some these problems includes: failures at school, stress and pressures in submitting requirements, dealing with other people and etc. Long before my family is the one who comfort me whenever I’m down. They are the one who encourage me to pursue life despite of its difficulties. I easily get affected whenever problems interfere on me but as time goes by, I’ve learned to handle such weakness of mine. I now take problem as a gift from up above that could make me a better person. Now that I’m a grown up person, I’m glad to say that I have that strong foundation as an individual towards facing problems. In the personality test, I’ve encountered a question that deals with money. A financial difficulty is really one of the factors that affect the life of every individual. As what other people always say: “money makes the world go round”. This difficulty is not new to me. I always encounter this especially that I’m a student. There are times that my allowance for the week is delayed, and so I have to be wise in spending my money or even think of how to earn one. In business, it always involves money. Regarding the personality test, I’ve encountered scenarios that engage money or being rich someday. As an individual I always have that thought of being rich someday. The hard workings of my parents are my inspiration towards this dream. I always have that vision that someday I could be able to give my parents the luxury of life in return of the goodness and strivings they’ve done just make me an educated person. I want to be a technopreneur someday and manage my own business. I want to have a big house where my family could live comfortably. I want to travel to places I haven’t gone through. These are but some of my aspirations in life. To accept mistakes and do things even better, this statement is one of the choices I have encountered in the personality test. I always have that hard time in making decisions because I am afraid of doing mistake. At school, I usually do not engage myself to responsibility, like being a leader in a group and etc. I’m anxious that if in case that it will not go well, they will blame me for the decisions I have mistakenly chosen. In class recitation, even if I know the answer I don’t have the courage too outburst my idea because it might be wrong and my classmates might just laugh at me. Currently, I’m working hard to change this attitude of mine. As a technopreneur, I should be a risk taker.


Somewhat entrepreneurial is not a bad result which made me think now that this time I can be a good technopreneur someday or even at this moment because if I do possess the characteristics of becoming one then why done try to be one. Risking just for the sake of going to the top or becoming a successful person. Risk taking is not an easy situation. Because your somewhat putting your life or depending your life into a serious scenario wherein you will at least have two possible answer which was to be fail or success on it. But being a risk taker is what Jobs also possess on succession on being a technoprenuer. He even risk his product without having the insurance successful rate outcome. Like what he did on the local electronics equipment retailer. Risking, just by having an instinct of the people to come and show to them and have interest on their product. An technoprenuer needs a lot of factors to contribute to be call one. Because you must possess a lot of characteristics to be an effective one. Though, we can say that maybe almost all of us can be an entreprenuer but only a few has given the talents of possessing the characteristics of an technoprenuer as i can say because being an technoprenuer needs a lot of effort on building those characteristics to be near on calling a better technoprenuer. Actually, as I heard about technoprenuership the first thing that came to my mind was about having business through the use of technology but though it was my first attendance in the class on the second meeting because i was on the hospital during the first meeting and we yet in the first quarter of the semester. I though technoprenuer is just another uninteresting subject during the first to third meeting. But, as we go along our discussion. I just realize what can a technoprenuer affects the society and also had a big role on helping the country on raising up on crisis because through this, you can be an employer and start a business and have job opportunities to your people. And it's a big help to our roaring society.



I think that I at least possess the characteristics of being a technopreneur. Which make me think on the future of becoming one. And be an employer rather than an employee. Starting a business and lead my employees well. Make my ideas a reality and not just stock on my brain. And somewhat I realized that I can be a good technopreneur because I know what are the things most the market needs nowadays I guess and also I can managed how to handle my employees because me myself can adjust to anything and know the feeling when people control you. Though I have still a long way to go. But I know someday I can be a successful person and be known not only national but international as well. But above all this, I always want to give emphasis to this thing. Play your cards well, and think a million times because their no such thing as rewind when you want to change the past.

1.)What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of steve jobs as a technopreneur?


Well, let's all start of how does the story "The Pirates of Silicon Valley" started, it all started with a interview of steve jobs wherein on that part. He was known as the person who was the one responsible of making Apple Company exist on the history. And was the one who develop Apple when they were to start on making it known to the society during their time.
But, going back to the question. I think that Steve Jobs got the guts, being persistent, risk taker, have the artistic view on things, good communication skills, self-confident, innovator, an almost perfect technoprenuer to be brief. That he makes himself, nor let as say his ideas into action and do not remain on just an idea. Having the attitude of thinking some posible plans to reach his goal and on of those plans was to have a plan on using companies to look that he had a good product to be sell on the market that would shake the society and had a feeling of craving to have it. Moreover, make use of the companies to earn even a little investments. Yet, in the end they will show that their product is not usefull, then continue of what they where doing like developing their ideas (Apple Computer's to be exact), make use of the money on developing their ideas(I am refering to the Apple Computer's) it's a loop that will be terminated by the user. And the user i'm referring into was steve jobs. And he even make use of his failures as his rivals on achieving his goals and he didn’t mind about his setbacks but he only focuses on his one and only goal which was to be a successful technoprenuer and even steal from the Xerox company. Their Graphical User Interface and the mouse to develop more their computers and that we should dare on things that can help us achieve our goal and not by pirating other’s work.

The guts which i was referring into was his guts of fearing nothing. To fail, to totally loss his pride on talking to the investors or facing the society on his idea, the guts of not giving up on all of the trials he face and have to guts to overcome it all and make a succesfull one. I can say that it is not that easy to have that kind of guts like what Steve Jobs possess. But as what i have seen on the movie. It was really considered of being a successful technoprenuer.

Jobs is also persistent. He was persistent of reaching his dreams and goals in life & persistent on achieving his ideas in the reality. Despite of lacking of the first resources on being a technoprenur which was money. He was able to show the system to a local electronics equipment retailer besides of lacking resources and even make himself a technoprenuer which later on had his own company just by having an idea as a capital.

Risk taking is not an easy situation. Because your somewhat putting your life or depending your life into a serious scenario wherein you will atleast have two posible answer which was to be fail or success on it. Good communication skills – a technopreneur should have good communication skills. Clients sometimes don’t know what they want or if they really need what your offering them so a technopreneur should be able to explain everything in a manner that makes clients interested and purchase whatever it is that you are offering. It is always a technopreneurs aim to invite more clients to have more income and good communication skills will help the achieve it.

Steve jobs is having a boost of self-confidence. And everyone can tell that if they watch the movie. Like, he had no one to fear off. He is a spindly wild boar fighting on the fair field sourrounded by brave ruler of the jungle like lions. And the competetors i was referring into was the IBM. And he was also think of it at the middle of the movie. That IBM was the enemy. Yet, he was so confident that he is a par and even will go beyond IBM success.

Innovator is also the one factor that Jobs had. He keeps on updating his systems and making it into a reliable system and to be the number one one the market. Like the Lisa Computer, Macintosh and he even keeps on developing it to be competetive to other companies.

But, as we all know. We can't really predict the future. Like the failure of Jobs when he entrusted so much in Bill Gates. The turning point on his life i can say because it was the main reason of his failure. And we can say that being smart is not always have a good outcome.

Jobs was a smart leader. And he manage his company all through-out and even make the employees on his company had the constancy of aim and effort. Full time work on the office just to cope up ideas. But he never notice that he was making his employees like a living robots. He was controlling them which was make themselves feel that they must follow the orders of their boss. And committing mistakes is forbidden.

Employees lost their faith on Jobs and some of them from that time had described him as an unreliable and temperamental manager, which is one of the factors that lead to his failure in technopreneuship.

And maybe he is doing that way because he didn't achieved yet his main goal which was maybe to be the number one technoprenuer on the society. Surpass his enemies and his main was the IBM company. He was not contented on what he had on those days and wants to strive more.

But because of that he never notice on what's happening on his sourrounding's. On the posible treats that will come because he was so focus on his goal. And as you can remember he don't even bother on the feelings of his employees when he was about to throw nasty words on them. He is was also glum which also affects his work on the company. Like when his girlfriend arrive and proclaim that she was pregnant then Steve Jobs denied the baby. Go inside the establishment then shouted his employees who was just having a short fun to stress out the fatigue they felt because of work. And this leads to some of his trusted subordinates leave him because of the violence of his action. And he never notice that if all of those trusted person's who leave him where on a the same establishment. Well, i can say that they can build more a better idea which may lead the Apple company to be the leading company on the present.


2.)How do you see yourself as a technoprenuer?


Entreprenuer and technoprenuer are to different things. And the diffrence between the two was; Entreprenuer (according to YourDictionary.com) an entrepreneur is “a person who organizes and manages a business undertaking, assuming the risk for the sake of the profit.” While, technoprenuer (according to www.associatedcontent.com) is an entrepreneur who is technology savvy, creative, innovative, dynamic, dares to be different and take the unexplored path, and very passionate about their work. They take challenges and strive to lead their life with greater success. They don't fear to fail. They take failure as a learning experience, a stimulator to look things differently and stride for next challenge. Technoprenuers continuously go through an organic process of continual improvement and always try to redefine the dynamic digital economy.

If it is possible for a simple member of the society like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs was back when they was not introduce as succesful technoprenuer and like a simple human being with a simple life. I guess it is also possible that it will be happening on me. As long as i will never say never to the faluires i may have face and will be a positive thinker. Risk everything and have the guts to face the world to make history. Then i can say to myself that i can be a technoprenuer someday. And i will strive more to gain more experiences that i can use as arsenal on facing more difficult challenges in life. And to use it someday.

And i can see that i have own one of the biggest company. And i will never manage my employees. Instead, i will be the one leading them. Make them feel that we are a family and make them think that each and everyone of them are secured and comfortable working with me. Make them realize that working on my company is not an option but a choice that they made because of the proper handle that i made.

I can see myself watching my own commercial on a six feet tall television on my condo in a hotel. Without taking off my sight until the commercial is done.

I can see myself a successful person having a celebration with my staffs and doing wild and foolishness and after that we laugh and laugh like their is no tommorrow.

And lastly, i can see myself a good example that other people will make me as an inspiration that beside's of the hardship in life. Still i manage myself to be a successful one and be called as a effective technoprenuer.


3.)Would you take the same career path that steve jobs took? why or why not?


Going back to my childhood days.I never think of being a kind of people wherein i will be the one who leads them. I always think of having a normal life with a normal and happy family.But when i took up college. I just realize how important money was. And i realize that everyone can made a history if you have ideas and you believe in yourself.

But going back to the question.My answer will be yes, after seeing the whole movie of the "Pirates Of the Silicon Valley" wherein at first they where just an ordinary people. Who aims high, make us of their ideas and making it into reality. I can say that as what field i chose to enter with which enlighten me more of what can we do to be a successful one, to help the society and to have a better life by just making use of your time, experience, knowledge yourself, and ideas as a capital. And the movie is not really about just for Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. It's also about having the lesson to learn from the movie. Like imitation which can be a threat on your idea if you will never secure it. So it helps you to now what are some of the possible things that can be considered as a threat on your ideas.Piracy, as what the movie was themed, also plays an important role in the history of technology development on which innovations were applied to mask up the robbing of ideas. And don't give your ideas without leaving an aces on your side. Although you can see on the other part of the movie. A not good example of Steve jobs as a technoprenuer. But i can say that we can use this as a guide on us ongoing to the path of a succesful technoprenuer. Adding up the thing of abandoning his own family. With his cute daughter and lovely wife. It make me think that, was Steve Jobs just want to assure if the baby is really his daughter or he just want to run of the obligation or maybe he thinks that having a family is just on of the things that will disturbed his concentration on the goal he was aiming for.

But, time passes by. Things change and people change. Steve Jobs is the CEO of Apple, which he co-founded in 1976. Pixar merged with The Walt Disney Company in 2006 and Steve now serves on Disney's board of directors.

Most of the people don’t have the idea of the historical development of technology even personal computers. It is definitely a new concept but we have grown very familiar with. The Pirates of Silicon Valley is an amazing illustration on modern day technoprenuers and gives us an inside look at the management style of both Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.

Though, Steve Jobs had done certain things to make his idea secured. Yet, in the end Bill Gates still manage to imitate it. And that's one of the things that i must look into if i will become an technoprenuer someday. Don't give to much trust to anyone. And also, he became arrogan, unreliable and temperamental manager which leads to his employees hated him. His trusted employees lost their trust to the one leading them because of being glum.

Maybe, it's hard taking that on my own path. With the help of myself only. And being independent of others help. And i guess for me he is an example that even a person didn’t graduate college or didn’t have a degree can be rich, inspire others, and have a mark in the history of mankind. And to think of it, a lot of person become rich even they don't finished a degree. And Jobs is truly a father of technoprenuer as what i have read on some sites in the internet telling that and I believe in that, maybe because of the movie i saw or maybe because i just felt like i got inspired by him. So i will definitely follow the same carrer path that steve jobs took though not all of the scenario(excluding the part of being glum. And yeah!, you know all of those nasty attitudes though). That even an ordinary person can make history that will mark and will be remembered forever.
